Most of the people in my life know that we started our photography business in Utah and decided to leave our established studio and client base for a new life. Well, Reno was it for us! I get asked all the time why Reno? Well, the answer to that is... because. We needed to get out of Utah! Utah is a beautiful state, however, it was not for us. We needed a change and we ended up here.
I can not tell you enough how much I love Reno! The diversity here, the people, the scenery, the freedom... it is exhilarating!!
Yes, it has been rough starting the business all over again. I did have a lot of contacts here prior to moving here. However, we did have to start all over. I won't lie, it has been hard. Some months we have not been able to even pay our bills. But, after a year we are doing really well. Both photography businesses are taking off like rockets right now!! It's amazing! We just started advertising in January and I received a phone call from a writer from the Reno Gazette and her first words to me were "I have heard your name all over town and I had to call..." AMAZING!!
So many new opportunities are opening up for us and things are about ready to launch. We are working with Fox 11 to produce a commercial and we have radio ads on Z93.7 and Alice 96.5. Everyone in Reno know who Bill and Connie in the morning are... they are the morning show on 96.5... well, we took pictures of her little girl, Story. It was so much fun and she has given us an outstanding testimonial that in playing on 96.5. She has posted pictures on the Alice Blog and on Facebook. The exposure from Connie is priceless.
I guess what I want to say is yes, we are new to Reno, but we are staking our claim in the photography world here!! And, we couldn't be happier!
